Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Rupali Ganguly, Shankar Mahadevan & Sunil Grover promote #VocalForLocal with MyGovIndia, urging fans to shop local this Diwali.

Bollywood’s biggest names — Madhuri Dixit Nene, Triptii Dimri, Rupali Ganguly, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sunil Grover — have come together to champion the #VocalForLocal initiative this Diwali.
This Diwali, several Bollywood celebrities have joined hands with the Government of India’s #VocalForLocal campaign, encouraging citizens to support Indian artisans, small shopkeepers, and local businesses. The initiative, promoted by @mygovindia, celebrates the spirit of Swadeshi — urging everyone to buy Indian, gift Indian, and celebrate Indian.
Celebrities Spread the Message of Swadeshi Warmth
From actors to musicians, many prominent figures from the entertainment industry shared heartfelt videos and messages on social media highlighting the beauty of local craftsmanship and the emotional connection between buyers and small sellers.
Madhuri Dixit Nene, in her message, reminded everyone that the true essence of Diwali lies in sharing happiness with loved ones. “Diwali ki roshni tabhi poori lagti hai jab khushi apno ke saath baanti jaye. Let’s support our local shops and spread the light of togetherness,” she wrote, tagging @mygovindia and Prime Minister @narendramodi.
Sunil Grover took a light-hearted yet powerful approach, saying, “Diwali pe sab kuch naya lena zaroori nahi — bas apne logon se lena zaroori hai. Shop local, smile local, celebrate local!” His reel struck an emotional chord as he highlighted how buying from familiar neighbourhood stores strengthens community ties.
Shankar Mahadevan added a melodic touch to the campaign, sharing, “Har mithai ki mithai badh jaati hai jab woh apne sheher ki dukaan se aati hai.” He urged fans to create their own rhythm of happiness this Diwali with #VocalForLocal.
Triptii Dimri captured the sentiment of authenticity and connection, saying, “There’s something special about shopping from people who know your name, your choice, your vibe. This Diwali, I’m choosing local because every small shop has a big heart.”
Rupali Ganguly, too, lent her voice to the cause, expressing, “From one festive season to another, our local shops never fail to bring that perfect Diwali warmth. Iss baar, khareedenge wahi se — apno se.”
A Celebration Rooted in India’s Spirit
Through their videos, the stars beautifully echoed the essence of the Vocal for Local campaign — celebrating India’s artisans, small traders, and traditional businesses. Each reel showcased familiar neighbourhood scenes — sweet shops, jutti sellers, local saree stores — reinforcing the message that India’s festive sparkle shines brightest when we buy from our own.
The campaign, amplified by @mygovindia and supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to empower local producers and remind citizens that every small purchase contributes to a self-reliant India.
As the nation lights up for Diwali, Bollywood’s message is clear, “When we shop local, we light up more than just our homes — we light up India.” ✨
