Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has landed in hot water after his recent appearance on Two Much, the new Prime Video talk show hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. The actor, who appeared alongside Salman Khan on the premiere episode, was caught off guard when the hosts questioned the long-standing age gap between male and female leads in Bollywood.

During the episode, Kajol posed a pointed question: “When the hero romances a younger heroine, it’s called cinema magic. But when an older heroine romances a younger man, it’s called ‘bold.’ Why do you think that is?” In response, Aamir appeared unsure and asked, “Have I done any films with very young heroines? Have I? I don’t know.” His comment left many surprised — including Twinkle, who immediately reminded him of his much younger co-stars over the years.

Twinkle And Salman Step In As Aamir Defends Himself

Twinkle Khanna, never one to hold back, countered Aamir’s claim by listing examples: “Kareena Kapoor, 45, in 3 Idiots (2009), Talaash (2012), and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022).” To this, Aamir smiled and replied, “But did Bebo and I not look the same age?” The moment quickly turned light-hearted when Salman Khan jumped in with a quip, “You did not, I did,” referring to his own films with Kareena like Bodyguard and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Aamir, trying to justify his stance, explained that casting often depends on the story’s demand. He cited Dil Chahta Hai (2001), where Akshaye Khanna’s character falls for an older woman, played by Dimple Kapadia — Twinkle’s mother — as an example of such storytelling choices. However, his explanation didn’t sit well with everyone.

Internet Reacts: ‘That Era Is Over, Accept It With Grace’

Shortly after the episode aired, a video clip of Aamir’s remarks went viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism. Many netizens called out what they saw as the actor’s “selective memory” and lack of accountability.

One user wrote, “Fatima Sana Shaikh played his daughter in Dangal and his love interest in Thugs of Hindostan — and they are 30 years apart.” Another fan said, “I love these 90s stars, but they must accept that the era of older heroes romancing 20-something actresses is over.”

A third user said, “This is how men dismiss the reality and escape accountability. They benefit from this system, which is why their feminism is always performative.”
