Renowned wedding videographer Vishal Punjabi, aka The Wedding Filmer, got candid about his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri. During an interview, Vishal revealed that he has always received backlash for featuring interfaith couples, but it was Shah Rukh and Gauri’s marriage that taught him how important it is to overcome such notions.

Before becoming the country’s foremost wedding videographer, Vishal used to work at Red Chillies Entertainment, and working with Shah Rukh Khan taught him various things, including the importance of inclusivity.

Vishal Punjabi On His Learnings From Shah Rukh Khan

During an interview with Adhunika Singh, when Vishal was asked about his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan and his key takeaways, the wedding videographer simply noted that whenever he features same-sex couples or interfaith weddings, he always faces huge backlash.

“Whenever we’ve done interfaith weddings, we get heavily trolled now. There’s a lot of abuse; there are a lot of uneducated points of view. I married a Muslim, and I was hated for it, but I have no regrets. My marriage didn’t work, not because she’s a Muslim, but because we couldn’t live together,” he shared, explaining that this is something he learnt from Shah Rukh and Gauri’s marriage.

“I personally love interfaith weddings. There’s nothing more beautiful. This is something I learnt from Shah Rukh as well. He used to celebrate Diwali and Eid, and if he can do it, I can do it, and the world can do it. It’s not wrong to respect someone’s religion,” he added.

Talking about his time at Red Chillies, Vishal shared how SRK used to treat his crews, which helped him realise the importance of taking care of his team.

“Red Chillies, at that time, was a ragtag team of young people who’d come from all over the country. He used to pay very close attention to how his crew was treated. I still remember when we used to get free lunches in the studio. It would really help us, because it would save us time and money. To provide for your crew, to make sure they’re paid well, to make sure they’re creatively motivated, is something I’ve learnt from him,” he added.

Shah Rukh Khan Helped Vishal Punjabi When He Got Deported

Previously, during an interview on the Brown Game Strong YouTube channel, Vishal recalled how Shah Rukh Khan helped him when he was deported from India for overstaying his welcome as a Ghanaian citizen.

“He tried everything that he could to see me come back… I went through a very hard time, but he worked tirelessly to get me back,” he shared.
