Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, the guitarist and co-founder of the English band Oasis, announced that he will be stepping away from the band’s reunion tour due to his cancer diagnosis. Through an Instagram post shared on Friday, October 3, he shared the news that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and is currently undergoing treatment.
The 60-year-old explained in the post that he has been responding well to the treatment, which allowed him to perform on the highly anticipated reunion tour of the band. “The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which means I could be part of this incredible tour,” he said, adding, “Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.”
The guitarist shared that he is sad about having to sit out the upcoming shows scheduled in October and November, but he reassured fans that he will return to the tour soon. “I’m really sad to be missing these shows, but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month, and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November,” he added, signing the statement with his nickname “Bonehead”.

FYI, the Oasis Live ‘25 Tour began on July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, marking the band’s first live appearances since their split in 2009. The tour is scheduled to end on November 23 at Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil.
When Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs Was Diagnosed With Tonsil Cancer
This isn’t the first time that the musician was diagnosed with cancer. Back in April 2022, Paul Arthurs shared via his social media account that he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. He was on tour with Liam Gallagher at the time. “I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I’ve been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is it’s treatable and I’ll be starting a course of treatment soon,” he mentioned back then.
At that time, he had expressed how disappointed he was to miss shows with Liam and the band, writing, “I’m gutted I’m missing [upcoming] gigs with Liam [Gallagher] and the band. Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you’re going, I’ll see you soon xxx.” In September 2022, Paul Arthurs revealed that he had beaten cancer and was recovering.
