Dhanush’s fourth directorial venture, Idli Kadai, continues to strike a chord with audiences, delivering a strong performance at the box office. The heartwarming family drama, featuring a fresh pairing of the National Award-winning actor and Shalini Pandey, has tugged heartstrings and grossed an impressive Rs 21 crore net in India within just two days of its release.
The film opened on a high note, earning Rs 11 crore on its first day, with Tamil Nadu alone contributing Rs 10.35 crore. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Idli Kadai added another Rs 10 crore on Day 2 (Thursday), maintaining its momentum across all languages.
Idli Kadai’s Occupancy Rate
On Thursday, October 2, the family drama enjoyed an overall Tamil occupancy of 59.87 percent. The morning shows started modestly at 34.98 per cent, but the film picked up momentum through the day. In the afternoon, Idli Kadai saw the most footfall of 70.02 percent, while the evening shows held steady at 69.21 percent. The numbers dipped during night shows, witnessing an overall occupancy of 65.26 percent.
As for the Telugu-speaking regions, Idli Kadai saw a more modest footfall, with an average occupancy of 23.13 percent. The morning shows were at 11.10 percent, while the numbers increased during the evening and night shows, where the occupancy rate was recorded at 28.16 percent and 29.06 percent.

Made under the direction of Dhanush, Idli Kadai is filled with emotionally charged moments. Shalini Pandey’s relationship with Dhanush drives the film forward. Besides the lead pair, the family drama also brings together an ensemble cast of several well-known actors. The star-studded cast includes Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Prakash Raj, veteran actor Raj Kiran, Brigida Saga, Sathyaraj, Ashok Selvan and Parthiban in pivotal roles.
Bankrolled by Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush under his own production house, Wunderbar Films, Idli Kadai is a sweet family entertainer due to its emotional moments, and Dhanush is receiving widespread praise for the way he brings out emotions in every scene.
Talking about its technical team, the music of the film is composed by music director GV Prakash Kumar. Kiran Koushik handled the cinematography, while the editing work was done by Prasanna GK.
