Diljit Dosanjh has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor at the prestigious International Emmy Awards 2025 for his portrayal of the iconic Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Now, Priyanka Chopra has expressed her pride in Diljit’s achievement by sharing her reaction on her Instagram Story.
Priyanka Chopra wrote, “Congratulations Diljit Dosanjh. Punjabi Emmy’s te aagaye oye.” Priyanka also tagged Parineeti Chopra, Imtiaz Ali, AR Rahman, Irshad Kamil and more. Previously, Alia Bhatt also congratulated the singer-actor on his Emmy nomination, praising his achievement. She shared a heartfelt message on social media, also applauding Diljit and the team behind the project for their Emmy nod.
In a recent chat with the Hindustan Times, Diljit Dosanjh called this feat special for Chamkila’s legacy and the people of Punjab. The film has also been nominated in the Best TV Movie/Mini Series category.
Diljit Dosanjh said, “This is such a big moment, and not just for me, but for Amar Singh Chamkila, an artist from Punjab who is being celebrated on the global stage.” He added, “I feel truly honoured that Amar Singh Chamkila, an artist from Punjab, is being recognised and talked about at a global level on such a prestigious stage like the International Emmys.”
He continued, “This nomination is not just for me, but for the entire legacy of Chamkila. I am grateful to Imtiaz Ali Sir for choosing me for the Role.” Diljit Dosanjh took to his Instagram Story to share the nomination and wrote, “It’s all because of Imtiaz Ali sir.” The filmmaker also shared his response on Instagram and wrote, “Making us proud, Diljit Dosanjh. So well deserved.”

Released on Netflix on April 12, 2024, the film follows Chamkila’s journey from a Dalit Sikh family in Punjab, dissatisfied with factory life, to becoming a superstar with provocative lyrics that often centred on love and rebellion. The story captures both his meteoric rise and tragic assassination at the age of 27.
This year, Diljit competes for the prestigious Emmy alongside actors like David Mitchell, Oriol Pla and Diego Vasquez, making the category one of the most anticipated to watch.
