The new season of the Japanese live-action series, which is based on Haro Aso’s manga series, premiered on Netflix on September 25. The show has kept viewers glued to their screens with its mix of survival games and high-stakes strategy, set in a parallel universe.
The ending of season 3 teased some new mysteries, hinting that the Borderland might just not be limited to Japan if it gets renewed for another season. What Did Alice In Borderland’s Director And Cast Say About A New Season?
Alice in Borderland’s director, Shinsuke Sato, has hinted at the possibility of continuing the story and even adapting Alice in Border Road, a spin-off manga that would feature an entirely new cast. Meanwhile, both Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who play Arisu and Usagi, respectively, also expressed their interest in continuing their characters’ story.
While speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Kento Yamazaki said, “Of course, if it’s going to continue in some way, I’ll be very much keen to be part of that.” Tao Tsuchiya, on the other hand, mentioned, “Thinking ahead, obviously in this season, which you haven’t seen yet, [Usagi is] pregnant, so there’s going to be a child in the future, and she would love to see that child return [to the normal world], not just the two lead characters. The story is set to be familial. I think that could be really interesting.”
How Did Alice In Borderland Season 3 End?
Season 3 of the sci-fi thriller picked up three years after Arisu and Usagi made it out of Borderland. But they once again end up there after Usagi is lured back by the chance to see her late father. The latest season ended with a mix of closure and mystery. Arisu and a pregnant Usagi managed to survive the final deadly game and returned to the real world.
For a moment, it seemed like they could enjoy a normal life, where they discussed baby names, reconnected with friends, and lived free from the horrors of Borderland. But the peace didn’t last long. A mysterious series of earthquakes shook cities worldwide, from Tokyo to Los Angeles and Paris. The final scene of the last episode introduced a waitress named Alice in Los Angeles, suggesting that the story could go global.
