Bobby Deol is basking in the success of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and he recently appeared on Raj Shamani’s podcast to discuss his early life and stardom. Bobby reflected on his bonds with his brother, Sunny Deol, and sisters, Laali and Anu. He also made the hilarious revelation that, as a kid, he wanted to have four children when he grew older, so he could name them all after his siblings.

Bobby Deol said, “When I got married, I wanted to have four kids… and I wanted to name them exactly the same names as my siblings because we have very unisex pet names. My brother is Sunny- you could be a boy or a girl. My eldest sister is Laali; she could be a boy or a girl. Then Anu and Bobby. All unisex names.”

Bobby laughed and said, “That was when I was growing up. I used to think of these things. Then when my wife and me were having our first child, I only looked for girl names.” Bobby Deol revealed that he always wanted a daughter because of his sisters’ relationship with his parents.

The actor added, “I just wanted to have a daughter. If I go a little back… my second sister, who is two years older than me, she got married and before that she said, ‘If I have a daughter, I’ll name her Nicky.’ That’s my mom… So I said, ‘No, I’m going to name my daughter Nicky.'”

He mentioned that he got into an argument with his sister over this, who then got emotional. Eventually, Anu did end up having a daughter named Nicky, who is very special to Bobby. When Bobby Deol was looking for girl names for his first child, Nicky questioned his ignorance, and he joked that if he couldn’t have a daughter, he would adopt her.

Bobby recalled, “I had my first son, and it was the day after Gadar released. It was a huge moment for me and my brother, around 24 years back. There was just so much happiness in the house… The day my son was born, I felt this connection to another level. So my kids, I have two boys and the second, then they didn’t let me name him Dharam… My family said, ‘How can we call him my papa’s name?'”

The actor mentioned that he wanted to name his son Dharam because of the way his grandmother would call out to Dharmendra. “It just had this beautiful emotion, sound, love- it just sounded that way. They said to me, ‘You can’t. You have to name him something else.’ I said, ‘Who calls papa by his name?’ Then I found another name.”

Bobby Deol named his first son, Aryaman, because of its sound and meaning. When his second son was born, he named him Dharam after Dharmendra. Bobby said that Dharam is as loving and caring as his grandfather.
