Dulquer Salmaan has clarified that Lokah is not releasing on OTT yet.
Fans hoping to stream Lokah at home will have to wait. Dulquer Salmaan has cleared the air on talk that his superhero blockbuster is headed for OTT soon, insisting there are no immediate digital plans for the film.
The clarification came on Sunday after a wave of posts suggested that the Dominic Arun directorial was set for a quick streaming release. Dulquer set the record straight on X, writing, “Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements!”
Lokah box office collection
The film – fronted by Kalyani Priyadarshan – has been a runaway hit since its release on 28 August. In 23 days, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has pulled in more than ₹130 crore in India and crossed the ₹200 crore mark worldwide, according to Sacnilk.
Produced under Dulquer’s banner Wayfarer Films, the big-budget spectacle also features Naslen, Sandy, Mammootty and Tovino Thomas in pivotal roles.
Dulquer on the response
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer admitted the success exceeded all expectations. “I was seeing responses from everywhere. It’s proof that audiences today are open to different languages and fresh storytelling. People watched it on day one, reviewed it, made reels – it was surreal,” he said.
He added that even the team was taken by surprise. “We were all stunned. It just blew up overnight. Suddenly, the question wasn’t ‘will it work?’ but ‘what do we do next?’”
What lies ahead
While rumours of a digital release have been dismissed for now, the film’s dream run has already sparked conversations about possible sequels. Dulquer remains upbeat but cautious. “It’s exciting, but yeah – no pressure!” he said, hinting at future plans for the franchise.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra tells the story of an ordinary man who unexpectedly discovers he has superhuman abilities, setting him on a path of responsibility and sacrifice. As he learns to harness his powers, he is drawn into a battle against forces that threaten humanity, blurring the line between his personal life and his duty as a protector. With themes of courage, identity, and destiny, the film blends action, emotion, and spectacle, marking a fresh take on the superhero genre in Indian cinema.
