Karan and Farah’s camaraderie goes back decades, starting on the sets of the Shah Rukh Khan film Duplicate.

Karan Johar shares a hilarious moment with Farah Khan at Homebound’s Mumbai premiere.
Monday night in Mumbai saw the glittering premiere of Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, a film that has already made waves at Cannes. The event brought together a host of Bollywood’s finest, including Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Hrithik Roshan, Vicky Kaushal, Farhan Akhtar, Shibani Dandekar, and Rhea Chakraborty.
The spotlight, however, was stolen by the playful banter between Karan Johar and Farah Khan. Referring to Farah’s viral cook, Dilip, who often appears in her YouTube vlogs, Karan joked, “I want to say no one is more popular than Dilip. Dilip zyada aage nahi chala gaeya?” Farah quickly asked, “What about me?” to which Karan responded with mock seriousness, “No, no.” The exchange, filled with laughter, instantly went viral and reminded everyone why their friendship is so entertaining.
Star-Studded Moments On The Red Carpet
The evening also featured several memorable moments. Vicky Kaushal was spotted sharing a warm hug with Ishaan Khatter, congratulating him on the film’s success. Hrithik Roshan turned heads in a sharp all-black ensemble, while Farhan Akhtar walked the red carpet with his wife, Shibani Dandekar. Rhea Chakraborty accompanied the couple, adding to the high-profile presence.
Karan and Farah’s camaraderie goes back decades, starting on the sets of the Shah Rukh Khan film Duplicate. Over the years, the duo has entertained fans with humorous social media reels and collaborative content, including Farah’s YouTube tour of Karan’s luxurious home.
Homebound Eyes The Oscars
Beyond the premiere’s glitz and laughter, Homebound carries significant cinematic weight. The Film Federation of India recently announced it as India’s official submission for the International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
The drama, inspired by Basharat Peer’s 2020 New York Times essay Taking Amrit Home, tells the story of two childhood friends navigating life in a small North Indian town amidst caste divides, religious tensions, and the hardships of pandemic lockdowns. Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa deliver standout performances, bringing the poignant tale to life.
“I’m deeply honored that ‘Homebound’ has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars. Rooted in the love for our land and our people, it carries the essence of the home we all share,” said Ghaywan.
