The wait is finally over. The official trailer of Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, has been unveiled. Ever since the film earned praise internationally for its poignant storytelling and powerful performances, desis were waiting to get a glimpse of the emotional drama. Now, after the makers dropped the trailer, fans and industry insiders have been heaping praise on the upcoming film.
And guess what? Global icon Priyanka Chopra couldn’t stop herself from giving a huge shoutout to the upcoming film.

Impressed by the trailer, the global icon took to social media and re-shared the trailer of the emotional drama. Priyanka shared the video on her Instagram story and wrote, “This seems unique. Great job, Neeraj Ghaywan.”
Homebound’s Gripping Storyline
Made under the direction of critically acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan, the emotional drama centres around two inseparable childhood friends—Chandan, a Dalit (played by Vishal Jethwa), and Shoaib, a Muslim (played by Ishaan Khatter). Set in a North Indian village, Homebound shows how the two friends set out to become police officers in the hopes of saving themselves from the deep-rooted discrimination they face.
But life takes an unexpected turn when the police exam results are delayed, testing their bond as desperation grows in this quest. The film also delves into emotional complexities of friendship and rural India’s socio-political challenges.
Homebound’s Cast and Achievements
The emotional drama brings together an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. The film is backed under the Dharma Productions banner by Karan Johar, Somen Mishra, Apoorva Mehta and Adar Poonawalla. Melita Toscan Du Plantier, Marijke deSouza and legendary Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese served as the executive producer. This much-awaited film is all set to tug hearts in India on September 26.
Before its grand release on silver screens, the emotional drama had its world premiere at the Unthe Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film garnered a 10-minute standing ovation at the prestigious festival. It has also received global appreciation at the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), bagging the Second Runner-Up position in the International People’s Choice Award category.
Priyanka Chopra’s cinematic front
She is gearing up for a grand comeback in the Bollywood industry with SS Rajamouli’s directorial, SSMB 29. This highly anticipated action-adventure epic will see her alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The big-budget film is written by Rajamouli’s father and celebrated writer V Vijayendra Prasad.
Besides her Bollywood slate, Priyanka will be reprising her role as Nadia in the second season of Citadel.
