Anurag Kashyap is known for making movies that are rooted and honest, and he wishes to continue doing so. Recently, in an interview, Anurag Kashyap opened up about how most people make movies for a lifestyle, but for him, this is not the case—he wishes to “keep making movies.”

In conversation with PTI, Kashyap shared, “I don’t see myself as fearless. I’m very honest about my filmmaking. And I think filmmakers should be honest in their filmmaking. In a sense, it’s a choice you have to make. Do you want to make movies or do you want a lifestyle? Most people want fame and a lifestyle. I want to keep making movies.”

The filmmaker further continued and said, “People call me fearless because the public is afraid. People call me courageous because they lack courage. Why should you need to be courageous to speak honestly? I’m just honest to myself.”

About Anurag Kashyap’s next

Kashyap’s career is rooted in his unwavering love for cinema, and now he is coming up with another film, Nishaanchi, that stars Aaishvary Thackeray, grandson of Balasaheb Thackeray.

The film is set in Uttar Pradesh in the early 2000s and introduces Aaishvary Thackeray in his acting debut. Thackeray will play dual roles as brothers Babloo and Dabloo, whose clashing ideologies form the core of the narrative.

Produced by Ajay Rai, Vipin Agnihotri, and Ranjan Singh under JAR Pictures, the film also features Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in key roles.

“Nishaanchi is a story I’ve carried with me for years. It’s my most cinematic film, with a classic story at its center involving emotion, betrayal, action—everything I grew up loving in Hindi films,” said Anurag Kashyap while talking about the film. He further continued and said, “Aaishvary, Vedika, Monika, Zeeshan, Kumud, and every single actor in the film—they didn’t just act, they lived and breathed these characters. Their commitment to the story and the authenticity of their performances shine in the film. And my crew matched that passion frame by frame, making the film come out so good.”

About Nishaanchi Trailer

The trailer of Nishaanchi whisks audiences back to the early 2000s, straight into the bustling lanes of small-town Uttar Pradesh, where the lives of Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangeeli Rinku, and Dabloo collide in unexpected ways. With high-octane chases, seeti-maar dialogues, raw confrontations, and tender moments of love and longing, it paints a world that is as chaotic as it is magnetic.
