Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor‘s children, Samaira Kapoor and Kian Raj Kapoor, have recently come into the spotlight due to their involvement in a property dispute following the death of their father, Sunjay Kapur. The family is now facing a legal battle over the late businessman’s estate.
Shared A Deep Bond With Their Father
Samaira and Kian, who generally avoid the limelight, are now at the centre of public attention. The siblings, who have been living with their mother for the past nine years, had a close relationship with their father. They frequently went on trips and dining outings with him and were deeply affected by his passing.
Samaira Carves Her Path Overseas
Samaira, now 20 years old, is the first child of Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. Born on March 11, 2005, she has excelled academically and is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA. Her LinkedIn profile indicates an interest in international relations or business, and she seems focused on her education rather than entering Bollywood.
What Is Kian Doing Now?
Meanwhile, Kian, born five years after Samaira, is currently living in Mumbai and attending a reputed school. At 15 years old, he is a shy child who stays away from the paparazzi and is often seen with his mother during family outings.
Samaira And Kian Move Court Against Stepmother
After the death of their father Sunjay Kapur, Samaira and Kian are fighting a legal battle in the Delhi High Court over his Rs 30,000 crore estate. Following Sunjay Kapur’s sudden passing in June 2025, his wife Priya Sachdev has been accused of tampering with his will and transferring all personal assets to her name.
The will, dated March 21, 2024, has been challenged by the children, who are demanding a one-fifth share in their father’s property, including company shares, real estate and investments.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday took up the property dispute case involving Sunjay Kapur’s children, Samaira and Kian. Justice Jyoti Singh issued summons to the defendants and directed them to submit written statements within two weeks, with rejoinders to be filed a week later. The matter is now listed for October 9.
On the interim relief sought by the plaintiffs, the court also sought replies within two weeks. In the meantime, Sunjay Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, has been asked to submit a complete list of his movable and immovable assets along with her response. The court will then consider whether to grant an ad-interim injunction.
Appearing for the children, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani argued that the will in question was never disclosed earlier, remains unregistered, and was allegedly read out hurriedly at the Taj Hotel. He called the circumstances suspicious, stressing that the executor reportedly learned of the will only a day before and that its disclosure came from a family staffer.
In her defence, Priya Kapur’s counsel, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, contended that the case was not maintainable. He claimed that Samaira and Kian were already beneficiaries under an existing trust and had recently received assets worth Rs 1,900 crore.
Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, represented by Senior Advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, also raised objections. Expressing concern for her grandchildren, she said: “There seems to be something deeply wrong here. At 80, I am still seeking clarity. A trust set up by me excludes me entirely, and despite repeated requests, I was never given a copy of the will.”
