Vidyut Jammwal has been roped in to play Dhalsim in Street Fighter live action and the movie, directed by Kitao Sakurai, is set for a 2026 release.

The much awaited live action Street Fighter movie is already creating a buzz among fans of the classic video game. What’s grabbing attention is the global cast chosen for the project. From India, Vidyut Jammwal has been roped in to play Dhalsim, a fan favourite character known as a fire breathing yogi and fights for his family.

The role marks the Commando star’s Hollywood debut. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the movie is set for a 2026 release.

Street Fighter Release Date

First launched in 1987, the game quickly became one of the most iconic video game franchises, focused on exciting martial arts battles. The story usually follows fighters from across the world who come together to compete in a deadly tournament created by the ruthless villain M Bison. Now, the live action adaptation is under production and fans won’t have to wait too long, as the film is officially scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, 2026.

Plot And Cast Details

As per the official synopsis, “Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER.”

Other than Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, the Street Fighter live action also features Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji will step into the shows of Ryu and Callina Liang will play Chun-Li. Roman Reigns steps into the role of Akuma, while David Dastmalchian plays the villainous M. Bison. Cody Rhodes appears as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki and Eric Andre as Don Sauvage.

50 Cent has been cast as Balrog, Jason Momoa in the role of Blanka and Orville Peck is cast as Vega. Olivier Richters will appear as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Kyle Mooney as Marvin and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.
