Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s Ibiza photos leak revealed by Manav Manglani sparks debate on Bollywood privacy, media ethics, and paparazzi culture.

Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s viral Ibiza photos rocked Bollywood in 2013 by raising questions about privacy and media frenzy. The images showed the two stars relaxing on a beach, with Katrina in a bikini and Ranbir in swim shorts. Though both had never publicly confirmed their relationship at the time, the images left little room for speculation. Now, paparazzo Manav Manglani has revealed that the images weren’t tourist or pap photos at all. He said that the images were leaked to the media by someone close to the actors.
Manav Manglani recently appeared on Kunickaa Sadanand’s podcast and recalled breaking the news of several Bollywood romances. He said he refuses to delete the photos despite celebrity requests, as the images would be out sooner or later. “You need to be a little manipulative in such situations,” he said.
He recalled capturing Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday when they were dating. He also mentioned that he was the first one to click Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif together when they were leaving a Diwali party.
He also mentioned, “Aaj nahi toh kal niklega hi niklega, ghar pe thodi affair karne waala hai (The photos will come out sooner or later, it’s not like they’re going to lock themselves in their house). It’s not a one-night fling, is it? But these are the pictures that go viral the most… The last leak was Ranbir and Katrina on that beach. That was a long time ago.”
Kunickaa was shocked by this revelation and asked, “That was a leak?” Manav replied, “Yes, that was leaked by someone very close to them…” However, he said that he doesn’t know who leaked the photos. He also mentioned that no such leaks have happened since then.
For the unversed, Ranbir and Katrina’s photos instantly went viral, fueling tabloid headlines and fan discussions across social media. While some admired the couple’s chemistry and were thrilled to see them together, others criticised the blatant invasion of privacy. The backlash prompted a strong reaction from both actors.
Katrina penned an open letter expressing her disappointment, stating that while she understands public interest in celebrities, private moments should be respected. Ranbir also voiced his displeasure, calling the incident “a breach of trust” and urging the media to draw a line between public appearances and personal space.
The episode raised important questions about media ethics, paparazzi culture, and celebrity privacy in India. It sparked a broader conversation on how far the media should go when covering stars’ personal lives, especially in the digital age, where viral content spreads in seconds. Despite the controversy, both Ranbir and Katrina continued their careers successfully. However, their relationship eventually ended a few years later.
