NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted Taylor Swift’s Super Bowl halftime show could be a “maybe,” sparking excitement as fans await confirmation from Roc Nation.

The biggest question buzzing in both the sports and music worlds right now: Will Taylor Swift perform at the Super Bowl halftime show? NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has added fuel to the speculation without giving a clear answer. Appearing on TODAY on September 3, Goodell was asked about the possibility and kept things coy. “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” he said.
When pressed further, Goodell wouldn’t confirm plans but didn’t shut them down either. Asked point blank if it was a “maybe,” he replied with a smile: “It’s a maybe.”
Jay-Z Will Have the Final Word
Goodell deflected further speculation by joking about who really controls the show. “I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out,” he quipped, referring to Jay-Z and Roc Nation, the producers behind recent halftime shows.
Taylor Swift, meanwhile, has been a regular presence at NFL games since going public with her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. With the two now engaged, the chances of her being connected to Super Bowl 60 — scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — feel even stronger.
For Swifties, Goodell’s careful teasing is reason enough to keep hopes high that the “Eras Tour” superstar could headline the world’s biggest stage.
Super Bowl Schedule Could Also Shift
Beyond halftime hype, Goodell also touched on another hot topic: when the Super Bowl is played. Currently set in February, fans have long pushed for the game to align with Presidents Day weekend, giving them a holiday after the late-night spectacle.
Goodell admitted that could become a reality if the league expands its schedule. “I think if you went to 18 weeks regular season, that would probably occur. It is possible somewhere in the calendar… but I think 18 weeks would get you to that point. I think it’d be a really great move,” he explained.
As the NFL season kicks off on September 4 with the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys, one thing is clear: the countdown to both the game and its halftime star has officially begun.
