Songs of Paradise, the musical biopic drama featuring Saba Azad and Soni Razdan in the leads, is generating widespread recognition from the audience for its poignant story of resilience and its focus on Kashmiri musical heritage. As the film continues to win hearts, Saba took to her Instagram and dropped a string of behind-the-scenes pictures from the making.
Helmed by Danish Renzu and backed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the musical drama is loosely inspired by the life of Kashmiri folk and playback singer, Padma Shri Raj Begum.
Saba Azad BTS From Songs of Paradise Making
The carousel post begins with a cute picture of Saba, dressed in a Kashmiri outfit as her character Zeba, sitting and holding a portable fan and her script. The next one is a boomerang video of the actress exuding her adorable smile and her hair flowing in the air.
Another picture features Saba holding some clothes on her head, and in the adjacent one, she is seen on the sets and showcasing the back of her hands to the camera.
Up next, she shared some more pictures from her journey as Zeba, wherein she is dressed in several traditional Kashmiri outfits.
Sharing the post, she wrote in the caption, “And just like that, Zeba is yours. Songs of Paradise is live on Prime Video now!! It’s a gentle film about a lot of courage, made with a lot of love, and we’d love for you to see it.”
Shabana Azmi Reviews Songs of Paradise
In no time, the comment section was flooded with reactions from fans and celebs alike. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi took the moment and shared her honest review of the film. Lauding Saba’s performance, she wrote, “I was drawn into her world. Saba Azad’s performance as Zeba is totally believable, the camera work, production design and costumes are alluring. Music is outstanding. Kudos to the director and the team.”
Actress Lilette Dubey commented, “And you are wonderful in it, darling! It was such fun working together.” Saba’s boyfriend Hrithik Roshan’s sister Pashmina Roshan shared, “Miel.”
Songs of Paradise: Cast and Plot
Apart from Saba and Soni Razdan, the film also features celebs like Taaruk Raina, Sheeba Chadha, Zain Khan Durrani and Lilette Dubey in significant roles.
Songs of Paradise follows the inspirational journey of Zeba Akhtar, a young woman in 1950s Kashmir who defies societal norms to become the legendary singer Noor Begum (also known as Raj Begum) and the first female voice on Radio Kashmir. The film is a musical drama loosely based on the life of the Padma Shri awardee, showcasing her struggle for recognition in a conservative society and her significant contribution to Kashmiri musical heritage.
