Mrunal Thakur shared unseen photos from Sita Ramam amid fresh controversy over her remarks.
Mrunal Thakur found herself trending once again this week, not just for her work but also for a resurfaced interview clip that has sparked heated debate online. A few hours after the controversy picked up steam, the actress chose to focus on fond memories instead by sharing stunning behind-the-scenes photos from her Telugu debut Sita Ramam.
Mrunal’s Post From Sita Ramam
In the pictures, Mrunal is seen in her iconic look as Sita Mahalakshmi, draped in elegant red handloom saree paired with delicate traditional jewellery. Her look is timeless yet understated, bringing back the classic charm that made audiences fall in love with her character. One candid shot shows her sitting in a quiet courtyard, gazing into the distance, while another captures her smiling softly on set alongside director Hanu Raghavapudi.
Sharing the throwback images, Mrunal captioned them: “Some memories are timeless.” Fans instantly flooded the comments section, expressing how much they still cherish the 2022 romantic drama.
Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Rashmika Mandanna, continues to hold a special place in the hearts of viewers even three years after its release. The period romance, set against the 1964 war backdrop, told the poignant story of a soldier (Dulquer) and the mysterious woman who writes him letters.
The Controversy Around Her Comment
While fans rejoiced over her nostalgic post, another section of the internet was busy dissecting Mrunal’s remarks from an old interview. In the viral clip, she spoke about rejecting big projects in her early years. “So many. I said no, honestly, because I was not ready. Controversies hojayegi. It became a super hit and did help the female actress to reach there. But then I realised if I would have done that film at that point of time I would have lost myself,” she said.
She further added: “Then she is not working at the moment, but I am, is itself a victory because I don’t want instant gratification, instant recognition, instant fame because anything that comes instantly goes away instantly.”
Netizens speculated that her comments were aimed at Anushka Sharma, since Salman Khan had once revealed on Bigg Boss that Mrunal was the “original star of Sultan” before Anushka came on board. Many criticised her for taking indirect digs, while others defended her right to speak her truth.
Despite the chatter, Mrunal appears unfazed, choosing instead to celebrate her career milestones.
