Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly in talks to headline the remake of her mother Sridevi’s iconic film Chaalbaaz, treading cautiously while weighing comparisons.

Janhvi Kapoor, who is currently observing the box office performance of her recently released film Param Sundari, is reportedly in talks to star in the remake of the iconic film Chaalbaaz, which starred her mother, Sridevi, in a double role. The remake of Chaalbaaz was earlier announced with Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, but the film never went on floors. Now, reports suggest that Janhvi will star in the film.
As per Free Press Journal, a source close to the development shared, “For Janhvi, Chaalbaaz is a lot more than just a film. It’s an emotion. She has jumped onto the chance of playing the lead role in Chaalbaaz, but is treading this with utmost caution.”
“She is taking opinions from people around her for the Chaalbaaz remake. She is excited, but is also wary of all the comparisons. She is expected to take a call on the Chaalbaaz remake by the end of September,” the source further added.
Janhvi Kapoor has quite an interesting lineup in her kitty after Param Sundari. The actress is eyeing the release of her next film, starring Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. The teaser of Janhvi and Varun’s film was recently dropped, and it received good reviews from the audience. She also has a movie, Peddi, with Ram Charan. The movie’s first-look teaser was dropped recently.
