Bharat admitted he didn’t want Esha to “put on weight” and praised her for being “gharelu,” adding that she took care of his mother and adapted to family traditions despite not knowing how to cook initially.
Esha Deol and businessman Bharat Takhtani called it quits in 2024 after 11 years of marriage. Now, almost a year and a half later, it appears that Bharat has turned the page. The entrepreneur made his relationship Instagram official by posting a romantic photograph with entrepreneur Meghna Lakhani Talreja, captioned simply: “Welcome to my family ❤️.”
The announcement has sparked buzz online, as fans recall the couple’s high-profile wedding in 2012. The lavish ceremony, hosted by Esha’s parents—Bollywood icons Dharmendra and Hema Malini—was a star-studded affair. At the time, Bharat, a businessman not directly connected to the film industry, seemed to embrace the glamour that came with being married to a Bollywood star.
Flashback: Esha and Bharat’s Marriage
Shortly after tying the knot, the couple gave an interview to Filmfare where Esha likened herself to Hema Malini’s character in Satte Pe Satta, calling herself the “first bahu” of the Takhtani family. Bharat, she revealed, often expected her to maintain a certain lifestyle. “Bharat doesn’t want me to put on weight. We’ll soon be joining ashtanga yoga classes,” Esha had said.
Esha also candidly admitted that her mother, Hema Malini, wanted her to be the picture of a dutiful wife—waking before her husband, helping her mother-in-law, and balancing household responsibilities with her work and dance practice.
For his part, Bharat praised Esha’s adaptability, saying she had always been “gharelu” (homely) despite her self-image as the tomboyish “boy of the house.” He fondly recalled her learning domestic skills for him, noting: “For someone who didn’t know how to make chai, just the other day, she cooked Khow Suey.”
Co-Parenting and Moving On
The couple share two daughters—Radhya and Miraya—who continue to remain their priority despite the separation. While Esha has largely kept her personal life private since the divorce, Bharat’s recent post with Meghna suggests he is ready to embrace a new chapter.
