Born into a multicultural family with a South Indian father and a Punjabi-English mother, Kunickaa was the eldest of four siblings. Her personal life, however, was full of challenges. The actress’ first marriage to a Marwari man who was 13 years older than her ended within two-and-a-half years. Together, they welcomed a son, and for the little one, they fought a long eight-year custody battle. Later, the child chose to stay with his father.
Despite the struggles, she did not give up and gave love another chance, only to end up with another failed marriage and even a live-in relationship. Always determined, she then decided to focus on raising her child. Speaking about her journey, she once told an outlet, “I have no regrets or ill feelings towards anybody. Both my ex-husbands are my friends. I am a motivational speaker and I share my life’s many experiences with others. As you keep healing yourself, it’s amazing how happy you become.”
Her Relationship With Kumar Sanu
Kunickaa recently opened up about her relationship with singer Kumar Sanu, revealing that it took place while he was still married. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, she shared that Kumar Sanu had been struggling with depression due to his troubled marriage, which deeply affected him.
She said their relationship lasted six years, but they kept it private out of respect for his family and children. “We only appeared in public when performing at shows together. I helped select his clothes and managed arrangements for his performances. I was like his wife and considered him like my husband. It felt like a relationship similar to Shakuntala and Dushyant. But later, I discovered things about him that broke my heart,” Kunickaa revealed.
