Veteran actor Asrani, who has worked with Priyadarshan in numerous films, recently confirmed that he will be a part of his upcoming high-octane thriller Haiwaan.
Asrani joins Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan starrer Haiwaan
Acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan, known for his work in Malayalam and Hindi cinema, announced his next project ‘Haiwaan’ with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, in July. The film went on floors today in Kochi. While not many details are known about the film yet, fans are eagerly awaiting updates, as it marks the reunion of Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar after 17 years. Now, veteran actor Asrani has confirmed that he will be a part of Haiwaan. The actor has already collaborated with the filmmaker on multiple projects over the years, including Hera Pheri, Malamaal Weekly and others.
In a conversation with BBC Hindi, Asrani said that he already shot for Priyadarshan’s film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ starring Akshay Kumar, Tabu Paresh Rawal, and others. He recalled shooting for the film earlier this year in Hyderabad. The veteran actor shared that he has collaborated with Priyadarshan in several films over the years, and will now be shooting for his next, titled ‘Haiwaan’, in September. “Abhi shooting September mein shuru ho rahi hai. Film ka naam hai Haiwan. Priyadarshan director hai (The shooting is starting in September. The film is called Haiwaan, and it’s directed by Priyadarshan),” he said.
Asrani has been a part of several Priyadarshan films including Hera Pheri, Hulchul, Malamaal Weekly, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, among others.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan starrer Haiwaan went on floors today. Akshay Kumar shared the update on social media, with the caption, “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan…Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan :)) Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my absolute favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshan.official Sir. Great to be working with Saif after nearly 18 years. Let’s get the haiwaniyat rolling!! @kvn.productions @thespianfilms_ind.”
Haiwaan is produced by KVN Productions in association with Thespian Films, and jointly produced by Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn. The film went on floors today in Kochi and will also be filmed across Ooty and Mumbai. As per reports, Haiwaan is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal.
