Test captain Shubman Gill and world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah are back in India’s T20I team along with spinner Kuldeep Yadav for the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup, which is set to be played from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but as many as six players who played in the last T20I series against the English team in January-February 2025 have been dropped from the squad.

Gill, who last played a T20I for Men in Blue on July 30, 2024, against Sri Lanka in Pallekele, has been named as vice-captain in place of Axar Patel.

Here’s a look at the complete list of changes in India’s T20I squad for the Asia Cup 2025 from the last series played against England in January-February 2025.

IN: Gill, Bumrah, Kuldeep and Jitesh Sharma are back in India’s T20I team for the Asia Cup. Bumrah and Kuldeep last played a T20I match for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa, whereas Gill’s last T20I was against Sri Lanka on July 30 last year. RCB wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh hasn’t played a T20I for India since January 14, 2024.

OUT: Mohammed Shami, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ramandeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel are out of India’s T20I team for the eight-team tournament in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While Reddy was not available for selection due to an injury he suffered ahead of the India-England Test in Manchester last month, the other five were dropped due to a flop show in the IPL 2025.

Retained players: Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana and Rinku Singh are 11 players who have been retained in India’s T20I squad for the premier continental event.
