Heavy downpour in the city has disrupted daily life of the netizens, as waterlogging at many places lead to traffic jams and poor conditions for flight operations.
IndiGo airlines issued travel advisory for passengers urging them to leave early from home if they have to catch a flight from the Mumbai Airport.
“The rain continues to make its presence felt across Mumbai, and road travel has been affected in parts. Traffic is moving slowly on some routes to the airport due to persistent showers and pooling water,” the airline said on X (formerly Twitter), as of 9:36 am on August 18.
“If you are catching a flight today, we recommend heading out early and keeping an eye on your flight updates via our app and website. Our airport teams are standing by and ready to help you along the way,” it added.
Similarly, SpiceJet said that due to bad weather in Mumbai, all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. It requested passengers to keep a check on their flight status on its official website.
Airline company Akasa Air also issued a travel advisory for its passengers in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa and Pune due to heavy rainfall.
“We anticipate slow moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport. To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight,” Akasa Air said in a statement on X.
“We realise that this may inconvenience your travel plans and seek your understanding,” it added, further asking people to check their flight status on the company’s website.
