Shah Rukh Khan has finally clinched his first National Award for Best Actor with Jawan, marking a historic milestone in his 33-year-long career.
Bollywood’s beloved superstar Shah Rukh Khan has finally added a long-awaited feather to his cap — the National Award for Best Actor, which he won for his blockbuster Jawan. The win marks a historic milestone in his three-decade-long career and sparked a wave of jubilation among fans worldwide.
To celebrate the moment, Shah Rukh surprised his admirers with an impromptu AMA on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend. Fans flooded the session with congratulatory messages, and one asked him the golden question, “How do you feel after winning the National Award? National Award ya janta ka pyaar?” Khan, in his inimitable style, replied, “YAY!!!!! I feel like the King of the Nation!!! Too much honour and too much responsibility to try and excel and work harder!!”

While Jawan earned him his maiden National Award, he shared the honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail. Following the announcement, Shah Rukh appeared before his fans wearing casuals — a beanie, T-shirt, denim, and a sling on his arm due to a recent injury — and delivered a heartfelt speech.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. Receiving a National Award is an honour I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you to the jury, the chairman, the I&B ministry, and everyone who thought I deserved this recognition,” he said.
The superstar didn’t forget to credit his collaborators. “I’d like to thank all of my directors and writers, particularly for 2023 — Raju sir, Sid, and most importantly Atlee sir and his team for believing in me with Jawan. And, of course, my family — Gauri, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.”
For Shah Rukh, the award is more than just a trophy. As he reflected, “The National Award is a reminder that my efforts are worth it. It pushes me to keep going, learning, creating, and serving cinema. In a world full of noise, being truly heard is a gift.”
On the work front, the superstar will next be seen in King, a film that also features his daughter Suhana Khan, making the father-daughter collaboration one of the most awaited big-screen events.
