Travis Kelce says his relationship with Taylor Swift “happened very organically” despite the intense media attention since 2023.

Travis Kelce is opening up about his whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift and insists that despite the headlines, their relationship grew naturally. In his GQ September 2025 cover story, the Kansas City Chiefs star reflected on their journey since they first connected in 2023.
“Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,” Kelce shared. “When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but… it still happened very organically.”
From Friendship Bracelet to Full-Blown Romance
Kelce, 35, first expressed interest in meeting Swift during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City in summer 2023. His playful plan involved gifting her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
That September, Swift made her debut at a Chiefs game, sparking a cultural frenzy that saw “the dads, Brads and Chads” suddenly paying attention to the NFL star’s love life.
The couple’s bond only grew stronger. Kelce joined Swift on her Eras Tour during the 2024 offseason, even stepping on stage in Europe, while Swift reciprocated by attending Chiefs games — including their Super Bowl 2025 appearance against the Eagles.
Why Kelce Calls It ‘So Organic’
Despite the public fascination, Kelce maintains that their romance unfolded naturally. “Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organised process,” he said. “When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It just kind of took the f–k off.”
Swift, also 35, spent much of the NFL offseason with Kelce before gearing up for her next album, The Life of a Showgirl. She even appeared on Kelce’s New Heights podcast to tease the project, bringing her trademark charm to their playful banter.
As Kelce prepares for his 13th NFL season, the couple continues to navigate fame with ease — blending touchdown celebrations with chart-topping success, proving that even the most high-profile love stories can have humble beginnings.
