On Monday, the actress seemed unfazed by the criticism as she took to Instagram with a series of striking photos in a black outfit and sunglasses, captioned, “Stop staring!” While her fans showered her with praise, detractors continued to reference the controversy. One user commented, “You’re lucky people know you now after you used Bipasha’s name,” while another wrote, “Bipasha is iconic!” “She insulted Bipasha,” a third user said.
What Mrunal Thakur Said About Bipasha Basu
The clip at the centre of the storm dates back to her Kumkum Bhagya days, where she was seen chatting about fitness with co-star Arjit Taneja. When asked about physical preferences, she remarked, “Go marry Bipasha then. Listen, I am far better than Bipasha.” The comment has sparked criticism, with many calling it an unnecessary dig at another actress.
Netizens were quick to react, with an old Reddit thread resurfacing as well. One user alleged, “She has always been a typical mean girl… she was mean towards her ex on Nach Baliye and has a very crass way of talking.” The clip has now gone viral across social media platforms, fuelling debate about her attitude.

While her alleged “Bipasha comment” stirred one controversy, her personal life made headlines too. Rumours of a romance with Dhanush began circulating after he attended the Son of Sardaar 2 screening.
In a recent interview cited by Only Kollywood, Mrunal clarified, “Dhanush is just a good friend to me.” She further explained his presence at the event, saying, “Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”
