Who Is Hester Frump:
Although Grandmama first appeared in the original Addams Family comics, season 2 marks her long-awaited on-screen debut. In this version, she is a wealthy businesswoman and one of the few family members who truly understands Wednesday. With her sharp personality and powerful status, Frump complicates the already-strained bond between Wednesday and Morticia.
As per Tudum, “These three generations of Addams family women find themselves coming together — and crossing swords, literal and metaphorical — to create what Gough calls the ‘delicious family triangle’ that becomes the dessicated heart of Wednesday Season 2.”
Jenna Ortega shared that Wednesday season 2 gave her the chance to show a different side of Wednesday’s bond with her mother, Morticia. In the first season, Wednesday acted like a typical teenager, annoyed and wanting to distance herself from her “clingy” mom. In the new season, she still wants space, but the two are brought closer when a serious problem arises.
Morticia finds out that Wednesday is dealing with “psychic exhaustion” after pushing her supernatural powers too far while trying to protect her friend Enid from danger. While they still clash like most parents and teens, the season also includes moments where they will show mutual respect.
