Raksha Bandhan special trains announced by Indian Railways — all details of routes here


The Indian Railways has announced several special train services across the country to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic as Raksha Bandhan approaches on August 9 and Independence Day nears on August 15.

Scheduled between the August 8-17, the services aim to ease travel for passengers during the festival and the extended Independence Day weekend.

Special trains between Madar and Rohtak 

The North Western Railway will operate a Madar-Rohtak-Madar special train to address festive travel demands.

Train No. 09639 will depart daily from Rajasthan’s Madar at 4.30 am and arrive in Haryana’s Rohtak at 12.50 pm between August 8-10, making three round trips in total, as per News18 Hindi.

The return service, Train No. 09640, will leave Rohtak at 1.20 pm and reach Madar at 10.35 pm.

The train will halt at several key stations, including Kishangarh, Phulera, Reengus, Neem Ka Thana, Narnaul, Rewari, Jhajjar, and Asthal Bohar, among others. The train will consist of 16 general coaches and two guard vans, prioritising passengers travelling in general class during the festival rush.

Bhopal-Rewa Special Trains in MP

The West Central Railway announced two one-way special trains on the Bhopal-Rewa route in Madhya Pradesh.

Train No. 01704 will depart from Rewa at 6.45 pm on August 10 and arrive at Rani Kamalapati station in Bhopal at 4.40 am the next day, as per News18 Hindi.

The return service, Train 01703 will run from Bhopal to Rewa on August 11, departing at 6.20 am and reaching Rewa by 8.30 pm.

These trains will stop at major stations like Satna, Maihar, Katni, Damoh, Sagar, Bina, and Vidisha, offering relief to travellers from both MP heartlands and satellite towns.

18 special trains on Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur routes 

The Central Railway announced 18 special train services in Maharashtra.

This includes six Pune-Nagpur specials, with Train No 01469 departing Pune on August 8 and 01470 returning from Nagpur on August 10, as per Punekar News. Four additional trips will run between August 14 and 17 on the same route. The trains will halt at key stations such as Daund, Ahmednagar, Manmad, Bhusaval and Akola.

Six special trains will operate between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT) and Nagpur, and two services between CSMT and Kolhapur on August 8 and 10.

There will be four LTT-Madgaon special trains running between August 14-17, halting at major Konkan stations like Ratnagiri and Karmali, as per Punekar News.

Booking for these services will reportedly open from August 7 and 9, as per the train numbers through IRCTC and reservation centres. Passengers are advised to plan ahead and refer to the official railway enquiry portals, platforms or NTES mobile app for detailed timings and availability.
