India pacer Mohammed Siraj has achieved a career-best 15th position in the latest ICC Test rankings, thanks to his stellar performance in the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval.

Siraj climbed 12 spots after taking nine wickets in the match, which included a five-wicket haul, as India triumphed over the hosts by six runs in a thrilling contest to level the series 2-2.

With England needing 35 runs on the final day and having four wickets in hand, a fired-up Siraj, who was named ‘Player of the Match,’ dismissed three batters, including the last wicket of Gus Atkinson, securing a remarkable win for India.

Siraj’s previous best ICC ranking was 16th, achieved in January last year.

India’s pace ace Jasprit Bumrah, who managed his workload by playing three Tests, continues to lead the rankings with 889 points.

Prasidh Krishna also reached a career-high 59th position, as he and Siraj became only the second Indian pair to take four or more wickets each in both innings of a Test, a feat previously accomplished by spinners Bishan Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna against Australia in Delhi in 1969.

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the top-5 in the Test batting rankings following his second century of the series at The Oval.

Jaiswal climbed three spots and now has 792 points, while the only other Indian batter in the top-10 is Rishabh Pant, who has slipped to eighth after missing the fifth Test due to a foot injury.

England’s charismatic batter Joe Root has solidified his position at the top with his third century in as many matches, while Harry Brook’s 98-ball 111 has helped him move up to second place.

In the bowling department, England fast bowlers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue have achieved career-best positions, each taking eight wickets in the match. Atkinson is now in the top-10 for the first time, while Tongue has moved up 14 places to 46th.
