Shruti Haasan joins Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan & Nagarjuna in Coolie. The Lokesh Kanagaraj film promises action, emotion & a powerhouse ensemble.
Shruti Haasan is set to share screen space with some of Indian cinema’s biggest icons in Coolie. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the high-octane action thriller features Rajinikanth in the lead, with key roles played by Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Sathyaraj.
Shruti Haasan is all set to make her mark in Coolie, the much-anticipated action thriller headlined by superstar Rajinikanth and helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. While the film promises high-octane drama and a powerhouse ensemble, Shruti recently opened up about her role in the film and what it was like sharing the screen with some of the biggest names in Indian cinema.
In a conversation with Sudhir Sreenivasan, Shruti shared her excitement about being part of such a stellar cast. “I have combination scenes with all the actors in Coolie, and I am thrilled to share screen space with such a heavy-duty star cast,” she said, reflecting on the ensemble nature of the film.
While earlier reports speculated that Shruti would be playing Rajinikanth’s daughter, she clarified in a previous interview that her character is in fact the daughter of veteran actor Sathyaraj.
When speaking about working alongside Rajinikanth, Shruti couldn’t help but gush about the experience. Calling the icon a man with a “golden heart,” she said, “I was blown away on set after witnessing his positive energy.” She went on to describe his legendary screen presence: “His expressions and dialogues are like a minimalized version of dance or fight choreography—similar to seeing Bruce Lee’s movies.”
Coolie follows the story of Deva, a former daily-wage laborer with a dark and mysterious past who emerges from the shadows after decades to avenge a close friend. Rajinikanth plays the titular role in what promises to be a massy yet layered narrative packed with action, suspense, and political undertones.
The film features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John, Rachita Ram, and a cameo appearance by Aamir Khan. The soundtrack and background score are composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding further buzz to the August 14, 2025 release.
Shruti was last seen in Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, directed by Prashanth Neel, where she starred opposite Prabhas. The film was the first installment in the gritty action saga, with Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam already on the way. Up next, she will also be seen in a special role in Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming thriller, Train.
