Yuvika Chaudhary backs Deepika Padukone’s 8-hour shift demand, says working after becoming a mother isn’t easy and actors deserve respect for their experience.

Yuvika Chaudhary backs Deepika Padukone in 8 hour shift debate.
Deepika Padukone’s exit from Spirit has stirred a debate surrounding fixed working hours for actors. Several celebrities have been talking about and giving their views on the topic, and now Yuvika Chaudhary, who is also a new mom, has reacted to the ongoing discussion and backed Deepika Padukone on the topic.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Yuvika opened up about Deepika’s demand and shared, “Ek toh maa banna aasan nahi hai aur maa banne ke baad kaam karna toh bilkul bhi aasan nahi hai. Voh unki definitely demand hogi. Unko kaam se pyaar hai isiliye toh voh kaam kar rahe hai, kaam pe aa rahe hai vapis.” (It is not easy to be a mother, and it is not easy at all to work after becoming a mother. That will definitely be her demand. She loves working and that is why she is working; she is coming back to work.)
“Joh aap industry mein itne saalon se kaam kar rahe ho, utni respect toh milna zaroori hai,” (She has been working in the industry for so many years, so she deserves that respect) she added while sharing how Deepika’s demands are absolutely right.
She further continued and stated that no one should be this ruthless towards a new mother, saying, “So I think she is right. She should get that time because itna bhi aapko ruthless nahi hona chahiye.” (She should get that time and no one should be this ruthless.)
“And I’m sure it’s not forever. It’s a give and take. When you have done a certain amount of work, I think you should get that respect,” Yuvika concluded.
Bollywood’s Ongoing Debate Over Work Hours
For the unversed, the debate over work hours in Bollywood started after Deepika Padukone’s departure from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit. Reports claimed that the actress, who recently embraced motherhood, requested to limit her workday to eight hours — a clause that reportedly didn’t sit well with the filmmaker.
Several celebrities, including Vikrant Massey, Rashmika Mandanna, Neha Dhupia, Anurag Basu, and others, came out in support of Deepika amid the ongoing discussion.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone is all set to collaborate with Atlee once again after the blockbuster hit Jawan. She is reportedly going to play a pivotal role in Shah Rukh Khan’s King. Meanwhile, director Mohit Suri is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Saiyaraa, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
