Tara Sutaria, steadily returning to the spotlight after navigating personal and professional setbacks, recently shared her thoughts on the runaway success of the romantic film Saiyaara. In a conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Tara reflected on why the film has resonated so deeply with audiences.
Speaking passionately about the emotional depth of the movie, Tara said, “For the last few years people are saying, love stories are not working, rom-coms are not working, this kind of a love story won’t work. Saiyaara is everything that a love story should be. It’s true, it’s genuine, it’s from the heart and it’s evoking emotions. And that’s what our films have not done for so long, and finally we have a film that’s doing that, and people are wondering why it’s working so well. Because of the emotion.”
Adding to the conversation, Ranveer Allahbadia said that while audiences have become more aware of “love literacy” in a post-lockdown world, there’s still a need for heartfelt storytelling. He said the human mind and soul crave “raw romance” and that’s probably why Saiyaara has struck a chord with so many.
Saiyaara Storyline
Starring debutant Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Saiyaara has quickly become a cultural phenomenon. Directed by Mohit Suri and backed by the YRF banner, the film brings the chaos, tenderness and unpredictability of romance back to the big screen.
The story centres around Krish Kapoor, a hot-headed musician and Vaani Batra, a shy aspiring journalist and poet. Their journey begins with an unexpected connection that blossoms into love. As their careers take off, especially Krish’s, an emotional twist unfolds when it’s revealed that Vaani is battling Alzheimer’s. Through heartbreak, past complications and emotional turbulence, the couple eventually reunites and ties the knot in a moving conclusion.
