Katrina Kaif Turns Down The Role
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was the producers’ first choice for the 2019 mega-budget action thriller Saaho, made at Rs 350 crore. However, she rejected the offer without hesitation, paving the way for a new leading lady to step in. Katrina Kaif’s refusal ultimately became Shraddha Kapoor’s big break.
Shraddha Kapoor’s Fortunate Opportunity
Shraddha Kapoor starred alongside Prabhas in Saaho, which also featured stars like Chunky Panday, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Mandira Bedi. The film earned approximately Rs 451 crore worldwide.
It is said that Katrina Kaif was the initial choice for the film, but Shraddha Kapoor’s casting turned out to be a fortunate turn of events.
Six Months Of Negotiations With Katrina Kaif
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, talks with Katrina Kaif went on for six months prior to the release of Bahubali 2. However, Katrina Kaif reportedly felt that working with Prabhas wouldn’t be advantageous for her career at that time.
Following the immense success of Bahubali 2, rumours circulated that Katrina Kaif’s team circulated that she was involved in the project, but she chose to remain silent on the matter, neither confirming nor denying the reports.
Possible Reasons Behind Katrina Kaif’s Rejection
Some reports suggested that Katrina Kaif was keen to join Saaho but prioritised Salman Khan’s film Bharat instead. After Priyanka Chopra Jonas unexpectedly exited Bharat, Katrina Kaif stepped in to support Salman Khan. However, these claims have never been officially confirmed.
Saaho’s Mixed Reception And Prabhas’ Comeback
Ultimately, Shraddha Kapoor took the lead role in Saaho. While the film received mixed reviews and did not fully meet box office expectations, Prabhas bounced back impressively with Kalki 2898 AD.
He now has several major projects lined up, including the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, Spirit, and The Raja Saheb.
