Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson had fans buzzing with their chemistry during the global press tour of The Naked Gun. From playful banter in interviews to flirty red-carpet moments, the two stars kept audiences intrigued. However, according to a new report by TMZ, their supposed romance was never real. Sources revealed it was a carefully crafted publicity stunt designed by Paramount and their PR teams while the film was still in production.

One of the standout stories during the press run came when Pamela Anderson revealed she baked muffins and sourdough bread for Liam Neeson. The Irish actor gamely played along, fueling chatter about a possible off-screen relationship. But insiders told TMZ this was pure role-play, part of a broader marketing strategy rather than real-life affection.

In fact, the two stars never enjoyed private dinners together. Whenever they did share meals, assistants and team members were present, keeping their interactions strictly professional. Their closeness, fans now learn, was part of a coordinated narrative to keep the spotlight on the film.

Box Office Success Proves The Plan Worked

While the romance storyline may have been fabricated, it undeniably helped the movie’s buzz. The Naked Gun grossed $89 million worldwide against a $42 million budget, suggesting the PR gamble paid off.

Interestingly, not everyone close to the film agreed with the stunt narrative. A source told PEOPLE on July 29 that Anderson and Neeson had “a budding romance in the early stages” and seemed genuinely fond of each other during promotions. “It’s sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other,” the source claimed.

On-screen, Neeson plays Frank Drebin Jr., a police officer caught in a spoof-style investigation, while Anderson takes on the role of femme fatale Beth. Their fictional romance mirrors the story that PR teams projected off-screen.

At The Naked Gun premiere in New York on July 28, both stars walked the carpet with their children for a blended family moment. Anderson’s sons Brandon (29) and Dylan (27) joined Neeson’s sons Micheál (30) and Daniel (28), creating a picture-perfect tableau that further stoked speculation.
