The much-anticipated romantic comedy Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, finally hit theatres this Friday. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Maddock Films, the film is set against the picturesque backdrop of Kerala. While the movie is drawing mixed reactions from audiences, the buzz around the cast salaries has taken center stage.
Who Earned What In Param Sundari?
According to a report by Times of India, Sidharth Malhotra commanded the highest paycheck for the film, with fees ranging between Rs 10–12 crore. Janhvi Kapoor, starring opposite him, reportedly earned between Rs 4–5 crore for her role.
The supporting cast includes Sanjay Kapoor, who plays Sidharth’s father and was compensated Rs 50 lakh, while Manjot Singh reportedly earned Rs 25 lakh for his performance. The film was produced on a modest budget compared to other Bollywood rom-coms, but Maddock Films ensured its lead pair walked away with substantial earnings.
Box Office Struggles Despite Star Power
Despite the hype around its fresh pairing and glossy promotions, Param Sundari has opened to underwhelming numbers at the box office. Early trade estimates suggest the film collected around Rs 7 crore on Day 1, with occupancy across theatres at just 10.64%. By 8 pm on opening day, the film had earned Rs 4.32 crore from its 4,908 shows nationwide, as per Sacnilk data.
The film’s sluggish start raises concerns, particularly since it was pitched as Sidharth Malhotra’s big theatrical comeback after two years. His last major digital success came with Shershaah on Amazon Prime Video, but his recent theatrical outings—including Yodha—failed to make a mark. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, despite consistent media buzz, is still awaiting her first major box office blockbuster.
The film’s delayed release, shifted from July to August after the overwhelming success of Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, may also have hampered momentum. With only three days to prove itself before weekday drops, Param Sundari’s long-term prospects now depend heavily on strong word of mouth.
