About IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack:

The show was directed by Anubhav Sinha, recounts the harrowing true events of the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. The series features an ensemble cast including Vijay Varma, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Dia Mirza, Arvind Swamy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, and Anupam Tripathi. It was released on Netflix on August 29, 2024. Vijay Varma was lauded for his intense performance in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

Upcoming film:

The actor now gears up for an exciting slate of projects including Nagraj Manjule’s much-anticipated Matka King, the romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq, and an untitled venture with acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta.

The teaser of Gustaakh Ishq was released recently. The 47-second clip captures everything that defines old-school romance—the palpable chemistry between Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, the drizzle of rain, two steaming cups of tea, fleeting chaos and whispered fears, unapologetic romance and Naseerudin Shah’s poetry in between. Gulzar’s evocative writing, Vibhu Puri’s nuanced direction, and Vishal Bhardwaj’s music elevate the entire sequence to an entirely new level. The romance drama is set to hit theatres in November 2025, though the exact date is yet to be announced. Originally titled Ul-Jalool Ishq, the film later received a new name, announced by Manish along with a poster showing Vijay Varma holding Fatima Sana Shaikh in a tender embrace. Gustaakh Ishq is the third project from Manish Malhotra’s Stage 5 Productions, which launched in September 2023. The company’s earlier films, Train From Chhapraula and Bun Tikki, are still awaiting release.
