Rajinikanth’s Coolie is on the verge of ₹500 crore worldwide after 12 days, with strong numbers in India, North America and Australia.

Rajinikanth has done it again. His big-screen comeback Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is racing towards the Rs 500 crore club worldwide after just 12 days in theatres. Released on 14 August alongside War 2, the ensemble action drama has turned into one of the year’s biggest Tamil blockbusters.
Coolie India numbers stay steady
Trade reports show Coolie has collected Rs 260.35 crore net in India so far. Monday’s numbers came in at an estimated Rs 3 crore, keeping its hold strong into the second week despite heavy competition.
Coolie Overseas Collection
The film is proving to be a crowd-puller overseas as well. US distributors revealed that Coolie has crossed $6.8 million (Rs 59 crore) in North America. In Australia, it has brought in around $14 lakh (Rs 7 crore). In total, global collections stand at approximately Rs 482.50 crore after 12 days.
Has Coolie crossed Rs 500 crore already?
According to one trade analyst on X (formerly Twitter), the milestone has already been achieved. The post read: “#Coolie has crossed the ₹500 cr Gross Mark at the world wide Box office..#SuperstarRajinikanth has the most number of 500 Crs+ movies from Kollywood.”
Rajinikanth vs Vijay post-pandemic
Big-screen footfalls may have slowed down since the pandemic, but Rajinikanth and Vijay remain the only Tamil stars consistently minting big money. With Coolie now nearly at Rs 500 crore, Rajinikanth strengthens his hold, while Vijay’s films together have already grossed about Rs 1800 crore worldwide since 2020.
