Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who is known for her grand and joyous Ganesh Chaturthi festivities every year, has revealed that she will not be celebrating the festival this time. The actress, who usually welcomes Ganpati Bappa at her home with much devotion and enthusiasm, made a sad face while expressing that she is going to miss the rituals and festivities.
In a recent interaction with paps on the sets of Super Dancer Chapter 5, Shilpa Shetty made a sad face and said, “Ganpati dance nahi kar paenge.” Paps too agreed with her. The Dhadkan actress is often seen actively participating in Ganpati visarjan celebrations, dancing her heart with her husband Raj Kundra, kids and sister Shamita Shetty, during the farewell processions. Why is Shilpa Shetty not bringing Bappa home this year?
Over the years, Shilpa Shetty has become one of the most prominent celebrity faces associated with Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai. Her home has frequently been the center of festive gatherings, with glimpses of her family’s devotion shared widely on social media. This year, however, the actress confirmed that she will be giving the celebrations a miss, owing to a tragic demise in her family.
On August 25, she took to Instagram and issued an official statement. She said, “Dear friends, with deep grief, we regret to inform you that, due to a bereavement in the family, this year we will not be holding our Ganpati celebrations. As per tradition, we will be observing a mourning period of 13 days and will therefore refrain from any religious festivities. We seek your understanding and prayers. With gratitude, The Kundra Family.”
What’s on the work front for Shilpa Shetty?
On the professional front, Shilpa Shetty was last seen in Sukhee, the directorial debut of Sonal Joshi. The film is a lighthearted slice-of-life drama that follows the journey of 38-year-old Punjabi housewife Sukhpreet ‘Sukhee’ Kalra. Stuck in the monotony of her daily routine, Sukhee decides to travel to Delhi for her high school reunion. What begins as a short trip turns into a life-changing experience as, over the course of seven days, she reconnects with her carefree teenage self, embarks on new adventures, and undergoes a remarkable transformation—rediscovering her identity beyond being just a wife and mother.
Next, Shilpa will be seen in KD: The Devil, a Kannada action drama helmed by director Prem. The film stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead, with an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Nora Fatehi, and Shilpa Shetty herself.
