Walmart Denies H-1B Visa Fraud Allegations: Walmart has dismissed online speculation linking its recent internal investigation to visa-related fraud, insisting that the matter had no connection to H-1B workers, according to a Hindustan Times report.
The retail giant confirmed that the probe resulted in the termination of one vendor and a small number of US-based employees but clarified that the actions were unrelated to H-1B visas.
The clarification follows a wave of unverified claims on anonymous workplace app Blind and social media platform X, alleging large-scale fraud at Walmart, including rumours that a senior executive in the Global Tech division was ousted over kickbacks in contract hiring. The chatter gained traction after Switzerland-based consultancy CTOL Digital Solutions highlighted the speculation, though it noted there was no confirmation from Walmart.
Despite the absence of evidence, the story spread quickly across Reddit and X, with some users linking the matter to H-1B visa holders. US Senator Mike Lee also weighed in, sharing a screenshot of the CTOL report and calling for a “pause” on H-1B visas.
The controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny of US visa policies and trade tensions with India, following Washington’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on Indian goods.
