As of 11:30 pm on August 11, Coolie had sold 13,500 tickets in top Hindi cinema chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for its opening day. Trade analysts expect this figure to rise to nearly 50,000 tickets by release day, translating to a Hindi box office debut above Rs 6 crore. This is especially notable given its face-off with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2.

Scheduled to release on August 14, Coolie is being positioned as a “dormant volcano” ready to erupt globally. Presales across all languages are exceptional, with industry insiders predicting an opening day close to Rs 140 crore worldwide. The film is also tipped to challenge Leo’s record for the biggest-ever Kollywood opener—a contest that could become one of the most talked-about box office battles in recent years.
Rajinikanth, last seen in Vettaiyan, is aiming for a spectacular comeback, while Lokesh Kanagaraj continues his streak of delivering ever-bigger hits. Remarkably, he has maintained a two-year gap between major releases, with Leo arriving in October 2023 and Coolie now hitting screens just 22 months later.
If audience reception matches early expectations, the global extended weekend total for Coolie could touch Rs 400 crore. Strong word of mouth could even propel it past 2.0, making it the highest-grossing Kollywood film in history.
