T-Hood shot dead
Gwinnett County police said officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 7 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute at a residence on Lee Road in Lilburn, just outside Atlanta. When they arrived, officers found Hood suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders provided emergency treatment before transporting him to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that one individual was detained for questioning. The motive for the shooting has not been released. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators.
Family confirms death, dismisses rumours
Hood’s mother, Yulanda, confirmed her son’s death on August 9 and addressed speculation about the circumstances. She denied reports that a party had been taking place at the home at the time of the shooting.
The incident has shocked fans and fellow musicians across the Southern rap scene, where Hood had built a loyal following.
Tributes from industry and fans
Music producer Deedotwill, who frequently collaborated with Hood, shared his grief in a social media post: “We was just on the phone all day. I can’t believe you are gone. REST IN PEACE T-HOOD. I LOVE YOU BROTHER.”
Fans also expressed their sorrow online. One wrote on X, “I just started listening to bro music 🙁 Rip T-Hood,” while another posted, “They always take the best ones, your light was too mofo bright for this lame a* world!”*
T-Hood’s girlfriend speaks out
At the time of his death, Hood was in a relationship with Kelsie Frost, daughter of reality television personality Kirk Frost. In an emotional statement shared online, she wrote, “First off I’ve been advised not to speak up by plenty of parties. I can’t sit back and let this narrative being created go on. The love of my life is GONE. the man I lay with and cuddle every single night…is no longer here. I want to ask for respect and privacy I won’t because I will always defend my baby. I don’t condone this s** in anyway shape form, or fashion. I am sick to my stomach. I don’t wish this on any one. My brain is all over the place, this is a total nightmare but I’m gonna get this off. I don’t even have time to grieve or say my respects in the right manner because I am defending myself, being attacked by people who are creating weird and sick rumours.”
The fatal shooting occurred just weeks after Hood posted a comedic video on Instagram in which he dressed as a ghost in a cemetery, a clip some fans have since described as unsettling in light of his death.
Police continue to investigate the events leading to the shooting and have appealed for public assistance. Anyone with information has been urged to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department.
