Vipin Sharma reacts Raanjhanaa AI ending.
Eros’ decision to alter the cult film Raanjhanaa’s ending with the help of AI has invited widespread criticism. While Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush have openly criticised the decision from day one, now Vipin Sharma, who played a pivotal role in the movie, has, in an exclusive chat with us at News18, reacted to Eros’ decision and criticised the altered ending.
While talking to us, Vipin, who was recently seen in Dhadak 2, shared, “Yaar, mujhe theek nahi lagta vo. Mujhe nahi lagta ki ek film jo organically batayi gayi thi… first of all, mujhe uska logic nahi samajh aata, why? Like, why do you want to change the ending? It is already made, it did what it did, people loved it, so why change it? Mujhe uska logic nahi samajh aaya. I didn’t quite understand the need to change something with AI, I didn’t get it.”
“I am very worried about my other films. So is Dhanush. We are actively looking at judicial remedies to restore and preserve our creative content from such extraneous interventions,” Aanand L. Rai had stated, talking about the film.
Not only the makers themselves, but several other celebrities have also come out in support of Aanand L. Rai. “I will always stand with the creator of the film. And if the creator of the film was unhappy about his or her work being changed, I will always support the creator. So that’s where my loyalty lies. The rest, the finer print of what happened there, I am not privy to. But that’s all I can say about that,” Farhan Akhtar said at the teaser launch of his upcoming movie 120 Bahadur.
About Raanjhanaa’s altered ending
For the unversed, in the original Raanjhanaa, Dhanush’s character Kundan dies after being shot, with Zoya (Sonam Kapoor) by his side. In the new AI version, Kundan survives and wakes up in the hospital as Bindiya (Swara Bhasker) and Murari (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) tear up in joy.
The AI edit has already caused tension between director Aanand L. Rai and production house Eros. While the studio defended the changes and claimed rights to the content, Rai has publicly said the decision was made without his consent, and warned that it sets a “dangerous precedent.”
