Scapia adds villa stays to credit card rewards: How other cards compare

Scapia has launched a villas and homes booking service, offering eligible co-branded credit cardholders 20% back as Scapia Coins on bookings made through the platform.

The launch expands the company’s accommodation options beyond hotels to include villas, homestays, apartments and cottages across India and overseas.

Called Scapia Villas & Homes, the service offers more than 2 lakh properties through the Scapia app. Customers can also redeem accumulated Scapia Coins towards eligible stays, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The offer comes as banks and travel platforms provide credit cardholders with different benefits on accommodation bookings, ranging from instant discounts to reward points.

What other credit cards offer on hotel bookings

Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip credit card: The co-branded card offers a 20% instant discount on eligible domestic hotel bookings, capped at ₹5,000, and international hotel bookings, capped at ₹10,000, through EaseMyTrip. The offer is subject to applicable booking conditions and promotional terms.

ixigo AU credit card: The co-branded card advertises discounts of up to 10% on eligible hotel, flight and bus bookings through ixigo. The actual benefit depends on the applicable offer terms and booking conditions.

HDFC Bank Regalia Gold credit card: The card offers up to 10 times reward points on eligible hotel and flight bookings through SmartBuy. Reward points can be redeemed against eligible travel bookings, subject to redemption limits and conditions.

These benefits work differently from Scapia’s reward offer. While an instant discount reduces the booking cost upfront, reward coins and points need to be redeemed according to the respective programme’s rules.

Cardholders should compare the effective monetary value of rewards, discount caps and booking restrictions rather than relying only on advertised percentages.

What does Scapia’s new service offer?

Scapia Villas & Homes is available under the Stays section of the app. The company said the service includes Scapia Assist, which provides support with property selection, amenities, special requests and coordination with hosts.

Under its Scapia Promise, the company says it will work with properties to resolve issues if a booked stay does not match what was promised. Eligible cases may receive compensation of up to 150% of the booking value, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

According to Scapia, its search and booking data showed that the share of leisure-destination searches was nearly 50% higher for villas and homes than for hotels. The average length of stay was around 20% higher, while weekend bookings accounted for a larger share of bookings in the category.

Goa, Udaipur, Ooty, Coorg, Puducherry, Munnar, Mumbai and Bengaluru were among the most searched domestic destinations on the platform. Dubai, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Krabi, Phu Quoc and Langkawi featured among the popular international destinations.

Scapia offers co-branded credit cards in partnership with Federal Bank, BOBCARD and Axis Bank.
