Air India and SBI Card have partnered to develop a co-branded credit card on the Visa network, targeting members of the airline’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme.
The card is expected to offer travel and lifestyle benefits, with customers able to earn rewards on everyday spending and travel-related transactions. The companies have not disclosed the launch date, annual fee, reward structure or other card-specific details.
The partnership brings together Air India’s frequent-flyer programme, SBI Card’s credit card business and Visa’s payments network.
Nipun Aggarwal, chief commercial officer of Air India, said the proposed card would aim to reward customers for everyday spending as well as travel and lifestyle purchases.
Salila Pande, managing director and chief executive officer of SBI Card, said the partnership was intended to develop a travel-focused credit card aligned with changing customer preferences and spending needs.
Air India’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme was redesigned in 2024. The airline said the programme had added more than five million members since the revamp. Members can earn and redeem Maharaja Points on eligible flights operated by Air India and Air India Express, as well as flights on other Star Alliance member airlines.
The programme also has partnerships with more than 100 brands across hospitality, retail, lifestyle and financial services, allowing members to earn points on eligible spending.
