Australia’s apparel imports decline to $1.47 bn in July-Aug 2026



Australia’s textile and apparel imports showed mixed trends during the first two months of fiscal ****–** (July–June). Apparel imports declined *.** per cent, while imports of textile yarn, fabrics and made-up articles eased by *.** per cent in July-August ****. However, fibre imports increased slightly during the period, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data.

Apparel imports (code **) declined *.** per cent to Au$*.*** billion (~$*.** billion), compared with Au$*.*** billion (~$*.** billion) a year earlier. But imports inched up *.** per cent year on year to Au$*.*** billion (~$*** million) in August **** from Au$*.*** billion (~$*** million) in August ****.

Imports of textile yarn, fabrics and made-up articles (code **) were also *.** per cent lower at Au$*** million (~$*** million) against Au$*** billion (~$*** billion) in the same period of the previous fiscal. The August shipments under this category decreased *.** per cent to Au$*** million (~$*** million) from Au$*** million (~$*** million) in August ****.
