Uttar Pradesh’s garment industry is positioning itself for a fresh phase of growth as the upcoming Noida International Airport promises to improve global connectivity and reduce logistics time for the apparel manufacturing cluster of Noida and Gautam Budh Nagar and other nearby hubs.
Gautam Budh Nagar district’s readymade garment industry currently generates annual turnover of more than ****;**,*** crore (~$*.** billion), supported by a combination of export demand, domestic consumption, government policies and the region’s proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR).
Industry experts say that the airport is expected to strengthen this advantage further by providing local garment manufacturers with quicker access to international markets. A dedicated air cargo logistics facility could allow time-sensitive apparel consignments to move from factories to overseas destinations more efficiently, reducing the dependence of exporters on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and distant seaports.
