As AI platforms soar, apparel shoppers stay cautious

AI’s adoption is not linear across age groups and geographies, whilst the new generation could be heavily relying on it, older generations are still figuring out if AI is able to put their needs into better words for shopping and ultimately helping them buy the needed product.

“I think something interesting is that there is still a gap between attitudes towards AI and then actual usage rates. So, in the US, for example, we have ** per cent of people saying AI is helping them find better value for money, ** per cent saying AI recommendations make them more likely to make a purchase, and even ** per cent saying that they would pay more for a product that was recommended to them by AI,” Kasia Davies, senior data journalist, Statista told Fibre*Fashion in an interview.

She noted that, however, according to Statista’s data, only ** per cent of consumers have made more than one purchase based on an AI recommendation. “So, there is kind of like an acknowledgement of how AI can help in the shopping journey, but there**;s still a kind of a slower uptake on actually then implementing that into the shopping journey,” she added.

Shoppers still skip AI for the brand website
