Jack orders 2,000 humanoid robots, testing apparel’s labour model



Jack’s *,***-robot order signals a new phase in apparel automation

The partnership combines Siemens’ industrial-AI, low-code software and digital-engineering tools with Jack Technology’s sewing machinery and humanoid robotics. Jack is targeting efficiency gains of up to ** per cent across product development and production, while its *,***-unit humanoid order represents the first large-scale deployment of robots designed for apparel manufacturing, according to Siemens.

Early Xinhua-reported pilot results show ** per cent fabric-separation success and more than ** per cent sewing quality under one product and fabric condition, with an estimated **-month payback. But Jack executive Lou Lingtong said the robots can currently perform individual sewing operations, not run a complete production line independently.

That limits the evidence today: this is automation of specific tasks, not full-line replacement. The strategic test is whether performance holds across fabrics, garment styles and production conditions. If it does, lower labour costs could become less decisive in determining where apparel capacity is located.
