India’s 4 architectural marvels recognised among world’s most beautiful in 2026


India has made a strong mark in the Prix Versailles 2026 World Selection, with four destinations featuring among the world’s best-designed airports, hotels and restaurants. The annual list recognises excellence in architecture and design across categories including airports, hotels, restaurants and museums.

The country’s entries include Terminal 2 of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati and Terminal 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport in the airport category, The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace in Khajuraho among hotels, and Rosso in Hinganigada among restaurants.

No Indian museum featured in the museum category this year, where institutions from countries including the UAE, China, Japan, Lithuania, the United States and Uzbekistan were selected.
World’s Most Beautiful Airports

Two Indian airport projects were recognised in the 2026 World Selection.

Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Terminal 2

Guwahati’s new terminal highlights the culture and natural heritage of Northeast India. Inspired by the bamboo orchid, it features sweeping ceilings, local artwork and traditional craftsmanship.

Navi Mumbai International Airport, Terminal 1

Opened in 2025, the terminal, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, draws inspiration from the lotus flower. It features lotus-shaped columns, large open spaces and digital art installations.

World’s Most Beautiful HotelsThe Oberoi Rajgarh Palace, Khajuraho

The 350-year-old fortress in Madhya Pradesh has been restored into a luxury hotel near Panna National Park. Surrounded by hills, forests and a lake, the property blends heritage architecture with modern hospitality.

The hotel was recognised alongside properties from destinations including France, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.

World’s Most Beautiful RestaurantsRosso, Hinganigada

India’s entry in the restaurant category, Rosso, is located within Hotel Irada in Pune Wine Country. Overlooking vineyards and forests, the restaurant combines Southern Italian cuisine with interiors influenced by Indian and Mediterranean design.
